چکیده

The paper deals with the curing behaviour of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) using three novel multifunctional aromatic amines having phosphine oxide and amide-acid linkages. The amines were prepared by reacting tris(3-aminophenyl)phosphine oxide (TAP) with 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid anhydride (P)/4,4-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic acid anhydride (F)/3,3,4,4-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (B). Amide-acid linkage in these amines is converted to thermally stable imide linkage during curing reaction. Curing temperatures of DGEBA were higher with phosphorylated amines than the conventional amine 4,4-diamino diphenyl sulphone (D). A decrease in initial decomposition temperature and higher char yields were observed when phosphorus containing amide-acid amines were used as curing agents for DGEBA.

Investigating the Effect of Modifier Chain Length on Insulation Properties of Polysulfide Modified Epoxy Resin

Polysulfide resins, with trade name of  G4 and G112, with short and long chain lengths respectively, were used as reactive modifiers to toughen epoxy resin. The effects of molecular weights of G4 and G112 on impact resistance, dielectric constant, thermal conductivity as well as decomposition  heat and adhesion properties of toughened epoxy were investigated. The impact strength and the diel...

Effects of Chemical Structure Changes on Curing Reactions and Thermal Properties of Cyanate Ester-Cured Rigid-Rod Epoxy Resins

How chemical structure changes affect the curing reactions and thermal properties of 2,2 -bis(4-cyanatophenyl) propane (cyanate ester) cured rigid-rod epoxy resins has been studied for biphenol and tetramethyl biphenol epoxies. The formation of an oxazolidinone ring is the dominant curing reaction for biphenol epoxy, whereas the formation of a cyanurate ring is the dominant curing reaction for ...

Analysis of Effective Thermal Conductivity for Mineral Cast Material Structures with Varying Epoxy Content Using TPS Method

Conventionally, cast iron is the material used for high speed machine tool structures. As an alternate material to improve the structural properties, composite materials are being used, which are known to exhibit excellent thermal and mechanical properties. While selecting an alternate material, thermal conductivity is an important thermo physical property of the material that should be studied...

Effect of Micro Glass Flake on Morphological and Rheological Behaviour of Epoxy Vinyl Ester Composite Coatings

In the present work, attempts were made to investigate the reinforcement and treatment effect of GF on morphological and rheological behaviour of GF/epoxy vinyl ester composites. GF was incorporated into epoxy vinyl ester resin by sonication, and mechanical agitation. Rheological and morphological properties were studied as a function of particle treatment and size distributions. The dispersion...

Effects of Chemical Structure Changes on Thermal, Mechanical, and Crystalline Properties of Rigid Rod Epoxy Resins

Effects of chemical structure changes on the thermal, mechanical, and crystalline properties of rigid rod epoxy resins have been studied for azomethine epoxy, biphenol epoxy, and tetramethyl biphenol epoxy. Rigid rod epoxies have exhibited better properties than those of the flexible bisphenol A epoxy. The chemical structures of both rigid rod epoxy and curing agent control the properties of cu...
